The Eagles just did the impossible. They defied all odds and made the Super Bowl. On February 4th, the Patriots and the Eagles are going to face off. But the question is can the Eagles beat the dominant New England Patriots?
The Eagles blew out the Vikings 38-7 Sunday, but Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are a different monster.
Tom Brady is the type of player that can make any team a great team. He can transform players and make them better. Some examples are Amendola, Dion Lewis, and Julian Edelman. Before these players came to the Patriots they were unpolished and unknown. Now they are some of the most reliable players a team could have.
Nick Foles isn't a bad Quarterback, but again, he isn't Brady. He isn't a 5 time Super Bowl champion or a 4 time Super Bowl MVP or a 2 time League MVP. The list goes on.
The Patriots are leading the league in yards per game and second in the league in points per game, per ESPN.com.
The Eagles are 3rd in the league in points per game and 3rd in the league in rushing yards , so they aren't too far behind statistically. The way the Eagles were able to blowout the Vikings was by waiting for Keenum to make a mistake. The Eagles defense is a strong unit and they will capitalize on mistakes. A great example of this was the pick six by Patrick Robinson, that really started the trashing of the Vikings.
But the reason why this won't work for the Eagles in the Super Bowl is simply because Brady is a Hall of Famer. He isn't going to fall for that and he won't make those mistakes that Keenum did.
Brady has been in his fair share of Super Bowls and he knows how to prepare for the biggest stage in the NFL. On the other hand Nick Foles only has 3 playoff games under his belt and now he is going to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career. This isn't to say that the Eagles can't win. But it will be hard. It is hard for any team to win against Brady for that matter.
If Foles is able to have that type of game that he had against the Vikings, the Eagles will have substantial chance to win. Foles had 352 yards and 3 touchdowns, with no interceptions, per ESPN.com. The Eagles defense had a great game as well. They had 2 interceptions, as well as 1 sack and 8 hits. They have been wrecking opponent's O-lines all year, and they hope the Super Bowl won't be any different.
If both of these units play this good they will have a probable chance to beat the reigning champs, New England Patriots. Not easy, but not impossible either.
No matter what, the Eagles are not going to go down without a fight.
